GRANITE
Granite is one of the most durable natural stones used in construction and design. It is an igneous rock formed from molten magma deep within the earth. As the magma cools under intense pressure, it becomes extremely dense and strong, with very low porosity.
Granite is made up of quartz, feldspar, and mica, along with other minerals that create its wide range of colors and patterns. This natural variation makes every slab unique.
Known for its strength and resistance, granite is ideal for both structural and decorative use. Its hard surface is highly durable and relatively low maintenance compared to other natural stones.
TRAVERTINE
Travertine is a type of limestone formed by mineral deposits from natural springs. Over time, water heated by the earth rises to the surface, leaving behind minerals that cool and solidify into stone.
The small holes and cavities in travertine are created by trapped gas bubbles during formation. These features, along with natural color variations, give travertine its distinctive look.
Travertine is commonly used for both indoor and outdoor applications, including flooring, walls, patios, and cladding.
MARBLE
Marble is a metamorphic stone formed when limestone is exposed to heat and pressure. During this process, the stone recrystallizes, creating its signature veining and refined appearance.
Marble is valued for its elegance and timeless appeal. It is available in a wide range of colors and patterns, making it a popular choice for high-end design.
It is commonly used for flooring, walls, bathrooms, kitchens, and decorative features such as sculptures and monuments.
ONYX
Onyx forms when mineral-rich water dissolves limestone and redeposits it in layers. It often develops in caves through slow dripping water, creating striking patterns over time.
Onyx is known for its translucency, which allows light to pass through the stone. This makes it ideal for feature walls, backlit panels, reception areas, and bar fronts.
Due to its softer nature, onyx is best suited for low-traffic applications where its beauty can be highlighted.
LIMESTONE
Limestone is a sedimentary stone formed from the remains of marine organisms such as shells and skeletal fragments. It is primarily composed of calcium carbonate.
This stone typically features subtle color variations and soft veining, giving it a natural and understated look.
Limestone is widely used for flooring, walls, and architectural elements in both residential and commercial spaces.
Natural Stone Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of natural stone.
- Clean regularly using a pH-neutral or stone-specific cleaner.
- Use a dust mop or soft cloth to remove dirt and debris.
- Wipe up spills immediately to prevent staining.
Some stones—especially marble, travertine, limestone, and onyx—are sensitive to acids and alkaline substances. Liquids such as orange juice, wine, vinegar, and cleaning products containing lemon or lime can cause etching or surface damage.
Sealing is recommended to help reduce staining. “Special impregnating” sealers can provide added protection, but they do not make the surface stain-proof.
Granite is less porous than most natural stones, but it should still be cleaned promptly to avoid potential damage.
Important:Do not use acidic or abrasive cleaners on natural stone. These products can damage the finish and reduce the life of the material.
